Close Combat Clasp Bronze By A.G. M.u.K. Gablonz 1st Pattern

A  Close Combat Clasp Bronze by A.G. M.u.K. Gablonz 1st Pattern, constructed in zink with 80% of the bronze finish intact, complete with a steel backing plate.  The reverse of the clasp has the manufacturer’s mark “A.G.M.u.K. Gablonz” for the firm of Arbeitsgemeinschaft Metall und Kunststoff, in raised letters, with fluted pin and crimped wire catch, and two crimps holding the back plate in place.   The badge has no damage or repairs, with slight wear in good condition.

Close Combat Clasp Bronze

The Close Combat Clasp (German: Nahkampfspange) was a World War II German military award instituted on 25 November 1942 for participation in hand-to-hand fighting at close quarters. Intended primarily for infantry, other Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS, ground Luftwaffe units, and paratroopers were also eligible.

The award was given in three classes:

  • For 15 days of combat, a Bronze Class was awarded.
  • For 30 days of combat, a Silver Class.
  • For 50 days of combat, a Gold Class.
