German Pre WW1 Franco-Prussian War Medal 1870 1871 For Non Combatants
An original German Pre WW1 Franco-Prussian War Medal 1870 1871 for non combatants for the victory against France during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 – 1871. The medal was instituted in 1871 by Kaiser Wilhelm, and was struck in bronze from French captured cannons. The obverse of the medal has the inscription ‘Dem siegreichen Heeres’ (To the Victorious Army) with Kaiser Wilhelm monogram in the centre. The reverse depicts an iron cross with a wreath in the centre and the date 1870-1871. The medal has no damage or repairs in good condition.

The obverse retains its original black matt paint finish, and imperial crown and W is crisp with a stunning silver frame. The reverse of the iron cross has a barrel hinge with vertical pin with a flat wire catch, which vaulted. The decoration has no damage or repairs in very good condition.

A rare WW1 Iron Cross 1st Class 1914 by Godet, three part contruction with magnetic iron core. The obverse retains its original black matt paint finish, and imperial crown and W is crisp with silver frame. The reverse of the iron cross has a block barrel hinge with a fluted vertical pin marked 'Godet Berlin' with a flat wire catch. One of the prongs on the reverse is missing otherwise in good condition.
