A cased EK1 Spange By B. H. Mayer constructed in silvered tombac, depicting the German National Eagle with outstretched wings, above a bar embossed "1939", unmarked but attributed to B. H. Mayer with great patina, complete with vertical pin and catch on the reverse, in mint condition. The presentation case has slight wear to the black leatherette exterior, which is embossed with a silver Spange on the lid, and a rectangular push-button catch, lined with black velvet. The reverse is marked '28' for Eugen Schmidthaussler, Pforzheim with integral hinge and catch with a vertical pin and round wire catch. The exterior of the presentation case is covered in black leatherette with press button catch and the base is marked 'B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim'. inside is linned with white rayon material and the base is covered in felt. The wound badge is in worn condition by an uncommon marker.

The obverse depicts Third Reich National Eagle with outstretched wings within a white enamel disc bearing the inscription "Kreissieger 1939" (Regional Winner 1939) clutching HJ emblem surrounded by a cog wheel. The reverse of the badge is nicely marked "A.G. Tham, Gablonz a.N" complete with a block hinge and wide pin, and soldered catch. The award measures 48.75 mm (w) x 48.45 mm (h), and weighs 27.5 grams. The badge has slight damage to the enamel on the lower part of the HJ emblem, otherwise in good condition.
