The Glider Pilot Regiment was a British airborne forces unit of the Second World War, which was responsible for crewing the British Army’s military gliders and saw action in the European theatre in support of Allied airborne operations. Established during the war in 1942, the regiment was disbanded in 1957.
Original British WW2 Army Air Corps Cap Badge die-stamped in brass. The badge depicts an eagle, facing right, wings outspread, perched on a voided arch within which the letters A.A.C (Army, Air, Corp) all within a laurel wreath, the tips joined by an Imperial (King's) crown. The reverse comes complete with lugs in good condition.
A rare and genuine King's Own Regiment Officer's Airborne Beret, constructed in maroon wool with officer's bullion cap badge with maroon backing. The unit served as part of 14 Airlanding Brigade, 44th Indian Division, which was short lived and only existed from November 1944 - February 1945. Inside the liner has the popular tailors label 'Conway William of London'. The beret has one small moth hole, otherwise in good condition.
A rare WW2 British Paratrooper helmet MK1, with original liner and leather chin strap. Inside the helmet the leather liner is in worn condition with the makers mark and 'BMM' for (Briggs Motor Bodies) and the is 6 5/8, and the leather straps are in very good condition. The outer shell is painted olive drab green with no dents. This desirable airborne helment has no damage or repairs in very good condition.
An original Parachute Regiment WW2 cloth shoulder title, machine embroidered in dark blue thread on blue woolen background with hessian style backing. The shoulder title has no damage or repairs in very good condition.
Original British WW2 British Glider Pilot Wings, the imperial (King's) crown is embroidered in yellow, red, green and white thread and the wings are in pale blue, on black woolen padded backing. The badge measures 115mm from wing tip to wing tip and has no damage or repairs in very good condition.
