Armbands Brief History
During the Third Reich, armbands were widely used by military, civil, political, and paramilitary groups. They identified membership, roles, functions, and rank, and were worn on both uniforms and civilian clothes. Designs varied over time, from simple printed bands to intricate hand-embroidered pieces. Mass-produced armbands existed alongside unique or limited-edition ones, some with metal insignia denoting rank, unit affiliation, or nationality. Occasionally, armbands were marked with ink stamps by issuing authorities.
