Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers Cap Badge

The regimental cap of Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers 2nd Patter was adopted in 1949 when it was re-named the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

The cap badge depicts a standing horse facing to the left perched on a globe, with a chain around its neck connected to the globe  with a lighting flash going through the centre.  Above the horse is a ornate scroll with the inscription REME surmounted by Imperial Kings Crown.

Brief History

The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME ) is a Corp of the British Army which repairs and maintains the Infantry, Royal Artillery and  Royal Armoured Corp equipment and other army units.

The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers was formed on 1 October 1942, which included tradesmen transferred from the Royal Army Ordinance  Corp, Royal Army Service Corp and Royal Engineers.
