Wehrmacht Heer Wreathed Cockade Officers
All German caps and helmets bore two common insignia elements, in various forms including the National Emblem and the national colours. During WW1 caps had carried dual cockades, one in imperial black-white-red and one on the colours of the particular state with the Weimer Republic.
Following Hitler’s rise to power, he restored the pre-1919 tricolor flag and ordered the Army (Heer) to return to black-white-red.
