WW1 British Royal Navy Officers Peaked Cap And Belt
A WW1 British Royal Navy officers’ peaked cap and belt, the cap is constructed of black wool and features a black leather peak and chin strap with a mohair band complete with an officer’s bullion badge depicting a silver fouled anchor, with a wrapped cable, surrounded by gold laurel leaves surmounted by a padded velvet King’s crown, with padded backing. The interior has a brown leather sweatband with a quilted padded lining, which is marked Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd, the label dates from 1901 – 1934. The officer’s dress belt is decorated with gold bullion, with a beautiful buckle that retains its original gilt finish with the chained anchor surmounted by the King’s Crown (George V) surrounded by a laurel wreath. The interior of the belt is leather which is still strong and supple and is marked inside in gold with the Gieves makers mark, which is regarded as the most exclusive military & civilian tailors.
Both items are in beautiful condition, with no damage or moth holes.
