Spanish Russian Front Campaign Medal

The “Blue Division” Medal for the Campaign in Russia was established on November 9, 1943, by Nationalist Spain to recognize Spanish volunteers who served on the Eastern Front during the Second World War as members of the “Blue Division.” This contingent, officially designated the 250th Infantry Division and attached to the Heer of the Wehrmacht (German Army), comprised a total of 47,000 personnel. The division was dispatched under the direction of Francisco Franco as a gesture of repayment to Adolf Hitler for his support during the Spanish Civil War.
