SA GROUP BERLIN

The SA Group Berlin was a regional unit of the Sturmabteilung, or SA, which was the Nazi Party’s paramilitary organisation in Germany. The SA Group Berlin was established in 1926 and was responsible for coordinating the activities of the SA units in the Berlin area.

Under the leadership of SA Group Leader Karl Ernst, the SA Group Berlin played a significant role in the Nazi Party’s rise to power in Berlin during the early 1930s. The SA carried out violent attacks against political opponents, including members of the Communist Party, the Social Democratic Party, and other left-wing groups.

In 1933, after the Nazi Party came to power, the SA Group Berlin played a key role in consolidating Nazi control over Berlin. The SA helped to organize the boycott of Jewish businesses, the burning of books deemed “un-German,” and the persecution of political opponents.

However, the SA’s power and influence began to wane after 1934, when Hitler ordered the “Night of the Long Knives” purge, during which many SA leaders were executed. The SA was eventually disbanded in 1945, following the end of World War II.
