During World War I, the German Empire was one of the Central Powers that lost the war. It began participation in the conflict after the declaration of war against Serbia by its ally, Austria-Hungary. German forces fought the Allies on both the eastern and western fronts, although German territory itself remained relatively safe from widespread invasion for most of the war, except for a brief period in 1914 when East Prussia was invaded.

An original 1914-1918 Austro Hungarian Commemorative Medal For Combatants, constructed in silvred bronze with suspension ring with period tri fold ribbon. The obverse of the medal features the Hungary coat of arms, with a set of crossed swords below signifying the medal is for combatants, encircled by oaks leaves. The reverse depicts a steel helmet in the centre with the inscription below 1914-1918 encircled by laurel leafs, surmounted by the incription "PRO DEO ET PATRIA" (FOR GOD AND COUNTRY). The medal has no damage or repairs in good condition.

German Iron Cross 1st Class 1914 With Early Presentation Case
A classic WW1 German Iron Cross 1st Class 1914 with early presentation case, three-part construction with magnetic iron core, with beautiful patina. The reverse is unmarked, with a vertical pin and barrel hinge with wire catch. The presentation is early variaton the exterior is covered in black leatherette, ebossed with a silver iron cross with a push button catch. The interior of the case has a nice purple velvet base, with a cream coloured lid. The Iron Cross and presentation box has no damage or repairs in good condition.

An original German Pre WW1 Franco-Prussian War Medal 1870 1871 for non combatants for the victory against France during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 - 1871. The medal was instituted in 1871 by Kaiser Wilhelm, and was struck in bronze from French captured cannons. The obverse of the medal has the inscription 'Dem siegreichen Heeres' (To the Victorious Army) with Kaiser Wilhelm monogram in the centre. The reverse depicts an iron cross with a wreath in the centre and the date 1870-1871. The medal has no damage or repairs in good condition.

A German WW1 Prussian Heer EM/NCO's Belt Buckle, two piece construction in brass overlayed with a central nickle plate. The obverse of the buckle features an Imperial Prussian crown in the centre with leaves beneath with the inscription above 'Gott Mit Uns' (God With Us). The buckle worn by all non-commissioned ranks of the Heer (Army) between 1895-1915. The buckle has no damage or repairs.

An original WW1 German Grand Duchy Hesse-Darmstadt Bravery War Medal, constructed in silver and was instituted in 1898 and remained in circulation till 1918. The medal depicts the head of the Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig facing left, circumscribed ‘ERNST LUDWIG GROSSHERZOG VON HESSEN’ and the reverse is inscribed 'FÜR KRIEGS-VERDIENSTE' (FOR BRAVERY) encircled by a laurel and oak wreath. The suspension ring is intact complete with orginal ribbon, the medal has no damage or repair and is in good condition.
