German Mother’s Cross In Gold by Ziemer & Söhne With Presentation Case

An original German Mother’s Cross in Gold, manufactured by Ziemer & Söhne and accompanied by its original presentation case. The medal features two-piece construction in gilt bronze and enamel and retains its full-length ribbon. The reverse bears a simulated handwritten inscription dated “16 December 1938”, together with Adolf Hitler’s signature. The original presentation case is covered in blue leatherette and displays minor scuffing to the exterior. Its interior is lined with white rayon and bears the maker’s mark inside the lid: ‘Ziemer & Söhne, Oberstein’ The medal has no damage or repairs, and the ribbon is full length in good condition.

GERMAN MOTHER’S CROSS

The German Mother’s Cross Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter In Gold.  The Mother’s Cross was instituted by Adolf Hitler on December 16TH 1938 as part of the propaganda campaign aimed at increasing the birth rate.

The award came in three grades to recognise and reward German mothers.  The bronze cross for 4 – 5 children, the silver for 6 – 7, and the gold for 8 or more children.

The criteria of the German Mother’s Cross criteria were awarded to parents with pure German descent who were worthy of the award.
