Luftwaffe 2nd Pattern Dagger By C. Gustav Spitzer KG, Solingen
A Luftwaffe 2nd Pattern Dagger By C. Gustav Spitzer KG, Solingen with original hangers, and bullion knot. The blade’s ricasso is maker marked “C. Gustav Spitzer KG, Solingen” with the company’s earlier period lion insignia. The steel blade still retains a nice finish with a few marks, that returns nicely into the scabbard, with the brown leather washer still intact. The scabbard has a few signs of aging complete with hangers, and original silver bullion portepee correctly tied to a dark pumpkin-colored celluloid grip with no chips or damage. The crossguard has beautiful detail with a burnished eagle’s head clutching a mobile swastika in its talons with the outreached feathered wing, the top side is embossed with oak leaves and acorns. The nickel pommel depicts a swastika and oak leaves, with a nice patina.
Overall the dagger is in nice condition with signs of aging by a rare maker.
