An orginal Royal Marines Artillery helmet plate - Circa 1879-1905, die stamped construction in brass. The obverse of the badge depicts a grenade fired proper with a globe in the centre surrounded with the motto "Per Mare Per Terram" (By Land & Sea) surrounded by a laurel wreath surmounted by a scroll with the inscription "Gibralter" and a fouled anchor at the base.
